How do I connect to my dev machine?

Open Settings → SSH Profiles and add your host. Password or private-key auth are both supported.

Direct-client mode lets DashVox SSH straight to your machine over Tailscale, VPN, or the open internet without the backend in the loop — useful when you want every keystroke to go device-to-device.

Can I run my own backend?

Yes. DashVox supports self-hosted mode end-to-end. Download the server JAR from the Self-Hosted page, run it on your own machine, and point the app at your URL in Settings. All conversations, SSH profiles, and session state stay on your hardware.

Does DashVox train on my prompts?

No. Your conversations are not used for model training or ad targeting. SSH credentials stay in the device keychain; LLM provider API keys are forwarded directly to the provider from your session without us storing them beyond the lifetime of the request.

Does the app work without a subscription?

Self-hosted mode is free. Cloud mode has a free tier for casual use and a paid tier once you cross the included monthly quota — see the Pricing page.

Something crashed / something weird happened.

Send us a brief description + the approximate time, and if you can, the app version from Settings → About. Crash reports captured by the platform (TestFlight / Play Store) also help a lot — they include stack traces we can use directly.
