Terms of Service

Last updated: April 2026.

1. Acceptance

By installing or using DashVox (the "App") — including the mobile app, the self-hosted server, and the cloud service at api.dashvox.ai — you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Driving safety

DashVox is a voice-first application designed to minimize distraction while driving. Even so, you are solely responsible for operating your vehicle safely and in accordance with local law. DashVox is a tool; it is not a substitute for your attention to the road.

Do not use features of DashVox in ways that distract from driving. Pull over if you need to interact with the screen.

3. As-is service; no warranty

DashVox is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, or that data will be secure or not lost.

4. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, DashVox and its maintainers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of your use of the App — including but not limited to damages arising from use while driving.

5. Third-party services

DashVox integrates with third-party providers including Google Firebase (authentication, infrastructure), Google Cloud Platform (hosting), and Large Language Model providers such as Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google. Your use of those services through DashVox is also governed by their respective terms.

You are responsible for complying with the terms of service of any LLM provider whose API you use through DashVox — including any usage restrictions, content policies, or per-request costs imposed by those providers.

6. SSH and remote access

DashVox can orchestrate SSH sessions on remote machines that you explicitly configure. You are solely responsible for the credentials and access controls of those machines. Do not configure DashVox with credentials for systems you are not authorized to use.

SSH credentials are encrypted at rest on your device with AES-256. The DashVox cloud service never stores plaintext SSH credentials or private keys.

7. Free service; optional self-hosting

DashVox is free to use. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the cloud service at any time, with or without notice. Self-hosted installations are unaffected by changes to the cloud service.

If the cloud service is discontinued, you may continue to use DashVox with the self-hosted backend.

8. Acceptable use

You may not use DashVox to (a) violate any law, (b) infringe the rights of any third party, (c) attempt to compromise DashVox infrastructure or the systems of others, or (d) abuse the underlying LLM providers in ways that violate their terms.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict of laws principles.

11. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be sent to the maintainer via the DashVox project page. Privacy-specific questions are addressed in the Privacy Policy.
